It was time to make a change
As the founder and director of Diverse Inclusive Solutions, Nanouche Umeadi combines her professional and educational background, with her natural ability to connect with a diverse group of people, to strive for the goal of creating a more racially harmonious environment for schools across the UK. In the position of school governor, Nanouche is often exposed to several unfortunate stories of racial incidents that have afflicted children within ethnic minority backgrounds. Unable to stand by and watch nothing happen to eradicate such negative circumstances, she established herself as the go-to person in all matters of race and inclusion in the school.
Each workshop I run for schools are tailored to their own circumstances. Staff training often involves
understanding racial literacy and a review and audit of the curriculum from a diversity and inclusion point of view.
For pupils, my workshops cover topics of racism, racial literacy, and how to thrive in a white majority society. They also examine the best practices for tackling discrimination and understanding consequences of assumptions.
